With slight disparagement, he recounts his own avoidance of any account of the Holocaust, semprhn any conversation that might involve it. The book is never gruesome or sets itself as a judgmental agent against all evil.

Semprun’s narrative takes a lot of turns, as it seems expected of the writer’s style, but it always comes back to grab the reader’s attention and submerge him once more in the relevance of the events in question, and that is, telling and showing him the value and urgency of his story at every twist and complication of events.
